I’m still rusty with terminology after being out of the life and dealing with so much for so long, so hopefully all this makes sense. However, it’d be great if we had the ability to clear a mask, work on an area, and then reapply the saved mask.
Nomad sculpt software#
I feel like I’ve seen this in some other software but can’t remember. Ability to save mask presets (so long as topology remains the same). I’ve tried the “snap radius” slider but run into the above issue (#3). I assume it’s following the object surface at which it’s placed, which is nice but having a setting to turn this off would be awesome. Adding primitive shapes via the object menu is great because it allows the shape to be placed at 0-0-0, however I’d love the ability to place shapes via the insert tool without it rotating to a random value. I’ve also had issues entering an angle manually but it’ll randomly add one degree (89 or 91).Ĥ. However in relation to this: I’m having issues with the angle saying it’s at (for example) 90 degrees but it’ll actually be at 91 (yet it shows 90 in the field). Pivot points are pretty glitchy but that might be user error. I feel like all the settings across the app should be accessible via a single button/panel but I’m probably missing something here.ģ. Until this can be fixed, I’ve turned it off (which is thankfully an option)… but I’ve lost a loooot of work due to this issue.Ģ.
Nomad sculpt manual#
I guess I’ve been spoiled with zbrush which keeps auto save files separate from manual saves. With that being said, I do have some gripes:ġ. I'm a very happy mama! Thank you so much for giving us poor, busy folk a beautiful, mobile alternative to to hefty subscription of zBrush. Paying a measly $20 to get back into 3D after 2 years apart (since my daughter was born) is 10000% worth it. I was also amazed to discover that Nomad has a single developer - though I don't know how true this is, they deserve some serious kudos. And for that, it is absolutely incredible. Nomad is a serious game changer for 3D artists! This is NOT an app to be used for animating or modeling it is for sculpting works of art. I'm still learning what is and isn't possible with Nomad but since I started using this app, I have not missed zBrush. Nomad is incredibly robust with the ability to import your own alphas, change individual object materials, apply layers, and it is definitely not lacking in the brush department - including settings for individual brushes. Sure, there have been 3D Sculpting apps on the market for quite a while now (namely Forger), but I'm personally not a fan they're lacking many of the features I've become so accustomed to. Being a single mother of a wild toddler, I have virtually no time to sit down which means I have had no time to do the thing I love most - before now, that is. It took me no time at all to dive in and start sculpting. While it's true that it's missing many of the features available in zBrush, it makes up for with portability.

If you've worked in zBrush then you'll be at home using Nomad. There is also a lot of customisation possible! Layers and PBR painting are only kept through GLTF files.Įasy-to-use interface, designed for mobile experience. Screen Space Reflection, Depth of Field, Ambient Occlusion, Tone mapping, etc You can always switch to matcap for a more standard shading for sculpting purposes. You can even keep your layers, as they will be automatically updated!Ĭylinder, torus, triplanar voxel and other primitives can be used to quickly start new shape from scratch.īeautiful PBR rendering by default, with lighting and shadows. Refine locally your mesh under your brush to get an automatic level of detail. It can be used to quickly sketch a rough shape at the beginning of the creation process. Remesh quickly your mesh to get a uniform level of detail. Go back and forth between multiple resolution of your mesh for a flexible workflow. Record your sculpting and painting operations in separate layers for easier iteration during the creation process.īoth the sculpting and painting changes are recorded. You can easily manage all your material presets as well. Vertex painting with color, roughness and metalness. Need hard lines? you will also find some lasso/line/curve cutting tools.įalloff, alphas, pencil pressure and other stroke parameters can be customized. Clay, flatten, smooth, mask and many other brushes will let you shape your creation.
